Dr Hauschka Eyeshadow Duo 07 Review

I have another Dr Hauschka make up product to share with you all today, an eye shadow duo.
I know I'm on a bit of a 'Dr Hauschka - athon' at the moment,  but I really am loving their cosmetics and I wanted to review this duo sooner rather than later, as it is a limited edition piece and currently reduced in price direct from Dr Haushcka's website, so won't be around too much longer!
I already have the larger Dr Hauschka Eye Shadow Palette ~ stone colours, and am really enjoying using that so thought this mini duo would compliment it perfectly.
Dr Hauschka eye shadows are 100% mineral based and infused with beautiful botanical extracts to care for your skin naturally.
All Dr Hauschka's products are free from synthetic preservatives and scents, and are not tested on animals.

The duo comes beautifully packaged, it is presented in a white card box, with gold embossed lettering.
The palette itself is very chic ~ glossy black with gold lettering. It is lovely and slim so will not take up too much room in you make up bag.
A small sponge applicator is also included for on the go touch ups or emergency application ~ although I prefer to use my own brushes.

The duo I have is in shade 07, this has two gorgeous matte nude shades 01 soft cinnamon and 02 deep bronze, both are a good size at 1.3g each.
I was really thrilled when I opened the palette, as ordering on line can be a tad hazardous ~ you never quite know whether shades will match up in real life,  but these are both utterly charming wearable shades.
From left 01 Soft Cinnamon & 02 Deep Bronze
01 Soft Cinnamon (photo left) is a lovely warm medium brown, perfect as a lid colour or could be used instead to define the crease for a softer lighter day time look.
02 Deep Bronze (photo right)  is a fab deep chocolate brown great for background blending and crease definition, could also be used successfully as a lid colour on a darker skin tone, but for my pale skin I definitely use this in the crease to give shape to the eye.
Although they are described a matte shadows I have found they do have a ever so slight subtle sheen to them in certain lights, especially the soft cinnamon, not shimmer or sparkle just a little glow, this is really flattering and just adds something extra, especially if you are mixing these with the stone colour palette - which are all totally matte, just giving an extra dimension to the eye.
You might just be able to see the sheen I am referring to on shade 01 Soft Cinnamon (left) in the photo below.
From left ~ 01 Soft Cinnamon & 02 Deep Bronze Natural Daylight
Both shadows are fabulous quality, they are super soft and silky and have no 'chalky' elements to them at all.
I applied them both with my usual 'Real Techniques' shadow brushes,  so no having to purchase any special brushes as you sometimes might have to with other loose mineral make up!
The pigmentation is very good on both, you can apply a light sweep of colour or if you want deeper colour, as it is in the pan,  you can build it up successfully.
I got a full days wear from these without a problem, however I do use a eye shadow primer.
I find all eye shadows are best applied over a eye primer - I use Urban Decays eye primer potion,  it is simply the best,  shadow never creases or budges all day ~ not natural,  but so far I haven't found a natural alternative that works.
This palette is great as a stand alone product, you can still get a good simple two colour defined eye, or just use the soft cinnamon as a wash of colour on the lid with a coat of black mascara for a very natural look.
I feel it also works in perfect harmony with Dr Hauschka's stone colours palette
and just gives you a few more options for creating beautiful smokey eyes.
Read my review for this palette here ~
Again Dr Haushka has impressed me with their eye shadows - they are flattering for everyone no matter what age or skin tone and there is no compromise on quality or performance even though they are 100% mineral based.
I am very pleased to add this to my expanding Dr Hauschka make up collection and even better I managed to pick it up at a reduced price!
Dr Hauschka has reduced this palette from £21.45 to £12.87, so there is no better time to dip your toe into the water with this brand than with this palette.
But be quick ~ I don't think they will be around for long at this price!
The duo is also available in shade 06 - Pale Caramel & Cedar Dawn
also reduced to £12.87
Have you tried any Dr Hauschka make up?
I'd be interested to know!

  1. These are really pretty shades, I especially like cinnamon, you are doing a great job building a "green" makeup bag! I still use Urban decay's PP but I am going to order lily lolo's primer to review next week see how it compares. x
