Dr Hauschka Novum Lipstick Shade 04 & 07 Review

Dr Hauschka has yet again, provided an answer to my natural make up mission - a task I have set myself to see if I can find as natural as possible alternatives to my conventional daily make up, they must however perform as well or better than my normal make up.

All Dr Hauschkas products contain no synthetic preservatives, colours or fragrances and are not tested on animals.

I have cheated here a little bit as I have already been using Dr Hauschkas normal bullet lipsticks since last year,  so already know how fabulous they are, but I hadn't tried the Novum lipsticks so decided to see how these fared.

The two I have are shades 04 Nature Shimmer & 07 Delicate Orchid.
Both shades are soft shimmery nudes and are,  to be fair, very similar to each other, in fact just one shade apart I'd say ~ the joys of ordering on line!

04 Nature Shimmer

07 Delicate Orchid

Both lipsticks are a careful blend of beautiful botanical extracts, oils and natural waxes.
They are both absolutely beautiful quality, the texture of them is so soft and buttery, they just glide onto the lips.

Full Ingredient Listing ~

Top Novum 04 Nature Shimmer
Bottom Novum 07 Delicate Orchid

You can really feel the lovely oils and waxes - not in a bad way, but in a very smooth moisturising way, your lips feel very supple and comfortable when wearing these.
They are what I would call a proper lipstick, as they have good pigmentation and have very good staying power. I can get a good few hours of of these two before having to re apply.

Both shades are lovely brown nudes and do have a shimmery element to them, I like this as I am partial to a bit of shimmer on the lips, but if you prefer matte lipsticks then these aren't the lipsticks for you!
These shades are a perfect natural daytime colour and look really flattering against a pale skin but
I think would pretty much suit all skin tones.

The packaging is very smart ~  glossy black with gold lettering and I really like this style of 'stick' lipstick, it's nice and slimline, perfect for small handbags and travel sized make up bags.

The thin shape and angle of the lipstick is perfect for me,  I have smaller thinner lips and sometimes find normal sized lipsticks can be too big for my lips straight from the bullet!

I have found I can get a really good shape onto my lips straight from the stick without having to resort to a lip brush,  only a small time saving element for me but a bonus all the same!
The lipsticks do have a fairly strong botanical fragrance, I like it, and it reminds me what beautiful botanicals it has in it ~  it is certainly unmistakeably a Dr Hauschka fragrance!

However,  if you are adverse to fragrances in make up products then this may be something for you to consider.
I am really loving these and, despite them being almost identical in shade, I am very pleased with their performance and quality in my opinion certainly as good as any of my high end non natural lipsticks, and in some cases much better.

The only negative is there are only 4 colour choices in the Novum line plus two extra limited edition colours but hopefully Dr Hauschka will be bringing out more shades in the future.

I am beginning to think Dr Hauscka is the way forward in my natural make up mission !!

Dr Haushcka's novum lipsticks retail for £16.45 each for 2g.
Expensive,  but very much worth it in my opinion for the quality of the product and the natural ingredients.

The Dr Haushka Novum lipstick 07 Delicate Orchid is a limited edition and is part of the autumn 2012 Natural Allure Collection - the good news is it has now been reduced to £9.87 direct from Dr Haushka's website so if you want to give it a go now is the time to pick one up!

But be quick once it's gone it's gone!

Amarya.co.uk also stock a goood range of Dr Hauschka make up.

  3. Thanks for the review. I'm going to get the Delicate Orchid and #3 soft Sandy Brown lipstick. What I like about it that it has no synthetic preservatives.

    Cheers,
